LIRA

The Laurier Insurance and Risk Association (LIRA) is a student run club at Wilfrid Laurier University, acting under the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics. We aim to teach, encourage, and connect Laurier Students to the insurance industry. We host events throughout the year designed to educate students about the field while also giving them the chance to put themselves out there through networking sessions and case competitions.

LIRA is committed to creating awareness for the insurance and risk management industry among the students at Wilfrid Laurier University. LIRA strives to connect students with insurance industry professionals through the AIM program, that provides students with one-on-one networking and mentorship from industry professionals. AIM builds long-lasting relationships that help grow a students network and provide realistic insight of careers within the industry.

AIM Program

What is AIM?

The Assigned Industry Mentorship program (AIM) is designed to introduce students to the insurance industry. It was founded in 2018 and has been growing ever since, with the main goal of the program being to allow students one-on-one networking with a professional from the Industry. Students will be able to learn from the best in business and they will even be able to choose what specific section within the industry they want to learn about, whether that be brokering, claims, underwriting etc. This program is designed to prepare students for potential co-op placements and possible career opportunities by learning from professionals.
